LAMBERT HOUSES

The Boston Post Road predates the United States. Lambert Houses sits on that same sacred soil. When Hip Hop erupted in 1973, the oldest road in America became the loudest block in the world.

    When Hip Hop started

Lambert Houses in West Farms, Bronx stands as Hip Hop's sacred birthplace. This docuseries chronicles five decades (1973-present) of how one Bronx housing development cultivated Hip Hop pioneers who shaped global music culture. Featuring Hip Hop legends MC Sha-Rock--- Hip Hop's first female MC-- and Rahiem, both original founding members of the Funky Four, the film documents the community's unparalleled cultural impact.
Rahiem would go on to leave the Funky Four and join the legendary GrandmasterFlash and the Furious Five, cementing his place in Hip Hop royalty. Sha-Rock also departed the group, but later returned -- and with the addition of a new member, the group was reborn as the iconic Funky Four + 1, with Sha-Rock earning her place as the "+1". Together, their journeys trace the very DNA of Hip Hop from its Bronx roots to global stages.
Through resident interviews and archival footage, we explore how Lambert Houses on 180th Street and Boston Road became a creative incubator, fostering Hip Hop's origins and revolutionizing music worldwide. Honoring Arthur and Dorothy Crier's legacy.
